Registrar General (Marriages, Societies and Coat of Arms)

The Registrar General is responsible for:

  1. Registration of Marriages under the Marriage Act, 2004
    1. Safekeeping and maintenance of marriage records in Kenya;
    2. Safekeeping and maintenance of divorce records received from the Courts;
    3. Licensing and Gazetting church ministers to perform marriages under the Marriage Act, 2004;
    4. Performing Civil marriages under the Marriage Act, 2004;
  2. Registering adoptions under the Children’s Act;
  3. Registrar of the College of Arms;
  4. Registration of Societies under the Societies Act;
  5. Registering of Books and Newspapers under the Books and Newspapers Act.
