The State Law Office (SLO) has delinked from Public Service Commission (PSC). The delinking was passed by the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendment) Act,
2024 and a board has been constituted known as the Advisory Board to the Office of the Attorney General.
The Advisory Board shall consist of the: – Attorney General, the Principal Secretary on matters relating to the public service, the Principal Secretary responsible for
matters relating to the National Treasury, the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission or a representative designated in writing by the Chairperson, the
Chairperson of the Council of the Institute of Human Resource Management Professionals Act or a representative designated in writing by the Chairperson and
the President of Law Society of Kenya. The Attorney General shall be the Chairperson of the Advisory Board while the Solicitor General shall be the secretary
of the board.
This board shall advise the Attorney General on: –
a). Recruitment and appointment of Deputy Solicitor General, State counsel and other members of staff of the office
b). Promotion of the State Counsel and other members of staff of the office.
c). Discipline, remuneration of members of staff in consultation with Salaries Remuneration Commission (SCR) and on other matters that may be referred to the
Advisory Board by the Attorney General.
