Civil Litigation Services
The mandate of the Civil Litigation Department is drawn from Article 156 (4) (b) and (c) of the Constitution and Section 5 (1) (i) and (j) of the Office of the Attorney General Act.
The Civil Litigation Department represents the National Government in court on all civil and constitutional matters, arbitration and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution such as mediation, negotiations and adjudication.
Civil Litigation is further mandated to represent the National Government in matters before foreign courts and tribunals. It also conducts legal research and gives advise to Government Ministries, Departments and State Corporations/Agencies in all legal matters.
